Michele Antonazzi
PhD Graduate
Michele worked with us at AISLAB from 2019 to 2025. He is currentyl a postdoctoral researcher at KTH (Stockholm, Sweden) working on the project “Seamless Indoor–Outdoor Mobile Robot Semantic Perception and Navigation with Domain Adaptation”, in Patric Jensfelt’s group. Michele obtained his PhD in Computer Science in 2025 from the University of Milan, under the supervision of Prof. Nicola Balisico and Dr. Matteo Luperto. In his work, he addressed domain shift in real-world robotic vision. His research proposed novel domain adaptation methodologies for scalability and privacy preservation in cloud-based robotic perception, as well as unsupervised adaptation approaches for removing human supervision. During this period, He did a research visiting at the Robotics Lab of the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA), led by Prof. Alessandro Giusti, working on domain adaptation for nano-drones.

My main research interests are multi-robot systems and computer vision.
Nunzio Alberto Borghese
Full Professor – Head
N. Alberto Borghese graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering in 1986 from the Politecnico di Milano. He worked as a tenured researcher at the National Research Council (CNR) from 1987 to 2000. He then became Associate Professor and subsequently Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Milan (UNIMI), where he currently directs the Applied Intelligent Systems Laboratory.
His research focuses on the development and testing of computational intelligence methods and algorithms on real-world problems, with particular emphasis on limited execution time. He has developed innovative predictive methods based on multi-scale hierarchical neural networks, adaptive clustering, and statistical data processing techniques.
In recent years, he has applied his expertise to the development of innovative e-Health and e-Welfare platforms that integrate exergames, Artificial Intelligence, service robots, virtual communities, and smart objects.
He is co-author of more than 80 journal publications (h-index = 39), over 140 peer-reviewed conference papers, and 16 international patents. He was a partner in the projects Robocare and SI_Robotics (MIUR); coordinator of the European projects FITREHAB (InterReg IVC), REWIRE (FP7), and MOVECARE (H2020); and a partner in the project ESSENCE (H2020).
